Starfield Has Officially Gone Gold And Preload Begins Today

Gold stars all around.

Bethesda has announced that after many years of development and multiple delays, Starfield has officially gone “gold,” meaning that the game is content-complete and finally ready for the public to play pending any last-minute issues or bugs squashed between now and the inevitable launch-day update/s.

It also means that preload for the game can finally begin, at least on certain platforms. Bethesda says that’ll be available starting today, August 17th on Xbox Series X|S and Windows – though adjusting for timezones that’s likely very late today or possibly tomorrow for Aussies – while those picking the game up through Steam will have to wait until the day before early access starts on August 30th.

Preload will be important too, given the game is going to be at least 125GB in size.
